What type of heat pump is the best for me?

Perhaps the most common question asked by those interested in a heat pump is which type of heat pump they should buy. There are three basic types of heat pumps: air-water, brine-water and water-water.

Individual pump types have the following advantages:

  • Air-water heat pumps
The best-selling type of heat pump that corresponds to the climatic conditions in the Czech Republic is air-water heat pumps. The big advantage of air-water heat pumps is the purchase price, quick return on investment due to easier installation. There is no need to have land and heat pump installation can do without earthwork. It can be used for both heating and hot water.
  • Brine-water heat pumps
These heat pumps impress with stable heating performance, which is much less dependent on air temperature, and are particularly suitable for colder areas.
  • Water-water heat pumps
Water-water heat pumps have a constant coefficient of performance (COP) and constant heat output. They are particularly suitable for areas with more groundwater.
